Tesla Cybertruck Upfit with Auxiliary 12v Power System & Whelen 54" Legacy Light Bar

Tesla Cybertruck Police Upfit: Auxiliary Power, Whelen Legacy Light Bar, TSportline CTX Bumper & WARN Winch

As electric vehicles continue to enter public safety fleets, agencies are looking for ways to equip them with the same mission-critical capabilities traditionally found on gasoline and diesel patrol vehicles. This Tesla Cybertruck upfit demonstrates exactly what's possible when advanced EV technology meets proven emergency vehicle equipment.

At PatrolEV, we recently completed a Cybertruck build featuring a high-output 12V auxiliary power system, a 54-inch Whelen Legacy emergency light bar, and the rugged T Sportline CTX front bumper equipped with an integrated WARN winch. The result is a fully capable emergency response vehicle that combines cutting-edge electric performance with serious utility and recovery capability.

The Challenge: Powering Traditional Emergency Equipment on a Cybertruck

The Tesla Cybertruck operates on a 48-volt electrical architecture, which presents unique challenges when integrating traditional 12-volt emergency vehicle equipment.

While Tesla provides an auxiliary power feed, it is limited to approximately 350 watts continuous output, making it unsuitable for powering high-demand accessories such as emergency warning systems, scene lighting, and recovery winches. T Sportline engineered a dedicated auxiliary power solution specifically for the Cybertruck that delivers substantially higher power capacity while maintaining seamless integration with the vehicle's electrical system.

For law enforcement, public safety, utility, and emergency management applications, reliable auxiliary power is essential. This system enables the Cybertruck to support professional-grade equipment without compromising vehicle functionality.

High-Output 12V Auxiliary Power System

The foundation of this build is the T Sportline high-output auxiliary power system.

Unlike simple voltage converters, this solution incorporates a dedicated battery management system and auxiliary battery setup capable of supporting the demanding electrical loads associated with emergency vehicle operations. The system provides the power necessary for emergency lighting, scene lighting, communications equipment, and heavy-duty recovery accessories such as electric winches.

This approach gives fleet operators and agencies confidence that mission-critical equipment will perform when needed, regardless of vehicle operating conditions.

Whelen Legacy II 54" Emergency Light Bar & Patrol EV Bespoke Mounting Brackets

Mounted atop the Cybertruck is a 54-inch Whelen Legacy light bar, one of the most recognized and trusted emergency warning systems in North America.

The Legacy platform delivers exceptional 360-degree visibility with high-intensity LED warning capability designed for law enforcement, fire, EMS, and municipal fleets. Its aerodynamic profile complements the Cybertruck's futuristic styling while providing the warning performance agencies demand.

Combined with the Cybertruck's distinctive appearance, the Legacy light bar creates an unmistakable emergency vehicle presence on the roadway.  Fitment to the Tesla Cybertruck comes by way of Patrol EV designed and engineered low profile CNC fabricated brackets, made specifically for OEM-like integration with Cybertruck mounting points all while not contacting the roof glass.

T Sportline CTX Extreme Duty Front Bumper

The front end of this Cybertruck features the T Sportline CTX Extreme Duty bumper system, transforming the vehicle from a standard pickup into a purpose-built response platform.

Constructed from heavy-duty steel, the CTX bumper provides enhanced front-end protection while creating a secure mounting solution for recovery equipment and auxiliary lighting. The bumper has become a popular upgrade for fleet, off-road, and public safety applications due to its durability and integrated accessory options.

Beyond appearance, the CTX bumper delivers real-world functionality for vehicles operating in challenging environments.

Integrated WARN Winch Capability

A key feature of this build is the integrated WARN winch system.

Recovery capability is often overlooked in EV patrol and response vehicles, yet it can be invaluable during severe weather events, off-road incidents, disaster response operations, or vehicle recovery situations.

WARN's reputation for reliability and performance made it the ideal choice for this application. When paired with the dedicated auxiliary power system, the Cybertruck gains genuine self-recovery capability while maintaining the operational reliability required for professional use. T Sportline specifically developed their high-output power solution to support the substantial power demands associated with winch operation.

The Future of EV Emergency Vehicles

This build highlights the growing potential of electric vehicles in public safety applications. The Tesla Cybertruck offers exceptional acceleration, low operating costs, advanced technology, and impressive utility. With the right upfit equipment and electrical integration, it can also support the specialized equipment required by law enforcement, emergency management, utility services, and first responders.

As agencies evaluate the next generation of fleet vehicles, builds like this demonstrate that EVs no longer require compromises when it comes to emergency lighting, auxiliary power, or recovery equipment.

The future of fleet electrification isn't coming—it's already here.
