Patrol EV Showcases Rivian R1S Police Demo Vehicle at Police Fleet Expo DriveX

Patrol EV recently attended the Police Fleet Expo DriveX event in Birmingham, Alabama, an annual gathering that brings together police fleet managers, agency decision-makers, and industry experts from across the country to explore the latest technology and equipment for law enforcement vehicles.

We were proud to display our newly completed Rivian R1S demo build, marking another milestone in the development of electric patrol vehicles. This upfit highlights what’s possible when advanced EV platforms are paired with purpose-built police equipment.  The demo vehicle features a full Whelen lighting and siren package, a Gamber-Johnson center console, EV Sportline running boards, and EV Sportline steel police-spec wheels designed specifically for Rivian. It also includes our proprietary Patrol EV Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), which ensures that all patrol electronics—from lights to communications—operate reliably without taxing the Rivian’s native 12V system. To complete the build, we added a Patrol EV rear cargo storage drawer set and lower cargo vault, providing secure, organized storage for duty gear.

Throughout the event, the Rivian R1S drew consistent attention from fleet managers and officers who were eager to see how a fully upfit electric SUV patrol vehicle performs. Feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with many attendees noting that the vehicle not only looked impressive but also represented the future of law enforcement fleet technology.  As the industry continues to evaluate EV patrol vehicles, we were proud to contribute to the conversation and showcase a build that demonstrates both capability and reliability. Our team left Birmingham energized by the interest and enthusiasm around the Rivian R1S and excited to keep supporting agencies as they explore the transition to electric patrol vehicles.
